Oak handles with steel helix. very impressive engineering where the helix screws into the cork and pushed towards bottom of the bottle, the serpent’s tail is a valve which turns to allow the Champagne to travel up the tap and out the serpent’s mouth.
Champagne Taps were popular in the Victorian period.
He has some patina and lovely wear to his wood, with some chips and scratches throughout from many years of use.
