The Director Jay - Unusual Old Sheffield Plate Candlestick
The Director Jay is an interesting spring loaded Old Sheffield plate candlestick.
He is spring loaded so the wax candle sits inside and pressure pushes it up as they burn.
Dating mid 19th century. The candle holders contain a removable strong spring which is loaded in the tube from the base after inserting the candle. The flame stays in the same position until the candle burns out.
He is a lovely chamberstick style with the handles and drip tray base. Very unusual design so I had to include it in our candle collection.
Jay has some has wear to his silver plating due to age and use. Some of his copper can be seen through is silver plate.
A wonderful find especially as he is still in working order. A rare and unique find that you will not come across another one anytime soon.
