The Mixologist Andrew - Antique Treen Vinaigrette Cases

Andrew is a very rare and delightful pair of small containers

He is an antique wooden disc shape vinaigrette / pomander. I have never come across any like these before and sparked curiosity with other antique dealers

His dark sleek wood is so tactile and smooth. He is decorated with very fine inlay of steel discs on both sides.

These would have had contained aromatic substances used by the wealthy to protect them from infection and evil smells

Each separates into two vacant sections, one side having perforated holes for releasing the scent (a sharp thin blade can be used to separate the two parts but no pressure is required)

Andrew is in good antique condition with some wear to his steel decoration and tiny chips and cracks to his wood edge from being prised open with sharp objects. Mainly visible on his insides. 

Beautiful grain and patina on his wood makes him even more desirable.

Andrew is a truly rare if not unique find and amazed to have discovered a pair.
